Danny Ross, Jordon Lesser
& Silver Cinder
Upstairs @ The Sando
Wednesday 17th August
You have no choice but to go where Danny takes you when he plays. The guitar wanders through the words in an almost mystic way. He has been gathering friends and fans in Sydney, Byron and points north. Whether it is a ‘dustiest day’ or diving into ‘aquamarine’ there’s magic in the air. His last gig packed out the Basement; his partnership with electro house producer “the immigrant” has produced high rotation triple j smashers and aria club chart top 10 singles. Danny will be playing with Si Fixion on synth and mpc, one half of legionary live drum and bass outfit “the bird”. Together these two have a unique sound that some have called “folk-step”- laying slower, heavier dub step themes and nasty, growling synth bass lines underneath masterful guitar lines and haunting arrangements.
Jordan Leser a soulful, ethereal singer whose songs are arrows aimed straight at the heart, her sense of place is evocative, and her gift for melody arresting. Her compositions echo the likes of Kate Bush, Dido, and Tracey Thorn, but this won’t do her justice because in her music there is a fresh, new voice demanding to be heard. For the past 12 months Jordan has been developing her craft with Jim Moginie and Rob Hirst (both Midnight Oil). Jim has recorded a stunning collection of songs due to be released later in the year.
Tamara and James provide the wonderful combination of guitar and flute with harmonies to die for. Swell Season has nothing on these guys. They have been working the east coast for the past year or so and found time to record an album in the midst of it all. As Dr. John says ‘Such a night’! Guaranteed to enjoy.
